2 LSU graduates killed in plane crash with father

The plane was traveling from the Louisiana regional airport in Gonzales to Louisville, Kentucky. It crashed in Tennessee just south of Nashville.

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Baton Rouge plastic surgeon and his two children are dead after a small plane traveling from Baton Rouge to Louisville, Kentucky, crashed in Tennessee.

LSU identified Dr. Doucet's children as Giselle and Jen-Luc Doucet. Both were LSU seniors who were set to graduate on Friday.

Our partners at the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate identified the Baton Rouge plastic surgeon as Dr. Lucius Doucet III.

"This is heartbreaking for the LSU community, but especially for those who know and love these two students, and those were expecting to share graduation with them," LSU said in a statement.

The plane was traveling from the Louisiana regional airport in Gonzales to Louisville, Kentucky. It crashed in Tennessee just south of Nashville. A local chief deputy, Mark Elrod, said the plane appeared to have broken apart while in the air.

“It does appear that the plane did break up in the air,” Williamson County Chief Deputy Mark Elrod said.

Elrod added that the debris field is more than a mile long, but no structures have been reported damaged.

Jill Burgin, spokesperson for the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency, said they received a 911 call at about 12:05 p.m.

“He just said a possible plane crash, but he didn’t have a lot of details,” Burgin told reporters during Wednesday's news conference “He just heard a sound and saw debris so that’s all the information he gave.”

The Federal Aviation Association has identified the plane as a single-engine Beechcraft V35.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
