HODGE, La. — Fire officials say two children were killed in a late-night house fire in northern Louisiana.
In a news release, the State Fire Marshal says the fire happened Saturday night in the town of Hodge.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 10 p.m.
They learned that five children and one adult were inside the home when the fire began but two of the children were not able to make it out.
Firefighters found the bodies of the two children in the master bedroom.
Witnesses told fire marshal investigators that one of the children was playing with a lighter and accidentally caught a couch on fire.
The victims are believed to be an almost 2-month-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.
