NEW ORLEANS -- Three Jefferson Parish men are in jail after police say they fired shots at two Tulane students just outside of campus early Sunday morning, according to a police report.

Jude West, 22, of Kenner, Nicholas Ebright, 21, of Metairie, and Mark Maunoir, 19, of Metairie, were each booked with aggravated assault and illegal use of a weapon after they fired shots from a passing truck at the students as they were walking near the intersection of Broadway and Freret.

No motive was reported for the shooting, which took place at about 2:41 a.m., police reported.

The students, who were not hit, gave descriptions of the Chevy pick-up truck and occupants – including a shirtless driver – to police. NOPD officer Orlando Matthews stated in the report that within minutes he spotted the truck at a Burger King drive-thru and saw three men who matched the descriptions.

One of the suspects ran and jumped a fence, but was quickly apprehended. The suspect who fled showed Matthews where he hid the weapons used in the shooting, according to Matthews' report.

West and Maunoir appeared in court Sunday, and bond was set at $20,000 each. Ebright appeared in court Monday and bond was set at $50,000. All three suspects are being held in Orleans Parish Prison.
