NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana hospitals are restricting visitors amid the coronavirus outbreak, limiting the number of people who can come in contact with patients.

All hospitals in the state, including those in Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish – where the most cases have been reported – were told they would have to restrict "non-essential" visitors by the Louisiana Department of Health.

Read the letter from the state here.

Children's Hospital New Orleans, New Orleans East Hospital, Touro, University Medical Center New Orleans and West Jefferson Medical Center all have the new restrictions in place.

As well as restricting the number of visitors allowed in the hospitals, all visitors will need to take a safety screening at the door. Part of the safety screening will involve a temperature check.

A full list of essential visitors still allowed in the hospitals is available here.
