MARRERO, La. —
Three teachers at John Ehret High School were asked to stay at home for two weeks after they reportedly traveled to countries on the CDC's list of countries with coronavirus outbreaks.
Parents were told in a letter Tuesday about the situation. According to school officials, two teachers took trips to a country on the "risk assessed list" put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to warn travelers about the coronavirus.
A third teacher had a layover in a country on the list.
According to the letter, none of the teachers had any flu-like symptoms, but school officials asked them to stay away from work for two weeks "out of an abundance of caution."
The CDC's recommended incubation period is 14 days. If no symptoms develop in that time, a patient likely does not have the virus.
Two of the employees spoken about in the letter reported to work Monday, before school officials told them to stay away on Tuesday.
The letter told parents the school would be conducting a "deep cleaning" of the campus after students left Tuesday to help calm any concerns.
No cases of coronavirus have been reported in Louisiana.
