UPDATE: Hammond High Magnet will be open Tuesday after law enforcement has cleared it
Hammond High Magnet School has been closed Monday due to a social media threat received overnight.
A teacher at the school tells Eyewitness News that the school has been emptied and authorities are conducting a sweep of the campus.
"Until we can know for sure that the campus is safe, students will not be allowed to remain on campus," the Tangipahoa Parish School system shared on Facebook."We want to always err on the side of safety."

The school system added that the threat was only directed to Hammond High.
Principal Shelly Gayos told the Hammond Daily Star that school buses are being rerouted to return student home.
"Until the threat is cleared, classes are canceled today. We are just being extra cautious. More information will follow later," Gayos told the Hammond Daily Star.
The Daily Star reports that the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the threat.
