WALKER, La. -- A former Livingston Parish teacher was arrested Thursday after allegations that she was involved in a sexual relationship with a student.
Lynsie Pousson Pendarvis, 33, is facing carnal knowledge and indecent behavior with a juvenile charges. She is a former teacher at Walker Freshman High School. Authorities said the relationship was within the recent school semester.
“Acting on information we received from a reliable source a week ago, we initiated a preliminary investigation into the nature of a relationship between Ms. Pendarvis and a 15-year-old male student,” said Walker Police Captain John Sharp via a press release. “Our initial inquiry uncovered evidence appearing to support the existence of an inappropriate relationship between the teacher and her student. Consequently, our Officers interviewed the minor, along with his parents. During that interview process, the minor admitted engaging in a sexual relationship with Ms. Pendarvis. The minor’s parents acknowledged that their son informed them of the sexual relationship shortly before their interview with our investigators.”
Both charges Pendarvis faces are felonies.
“Clearly, the allegations against Ms. Pendarvis are extremely disturbing and we are continuing to investigate this matter," said Sharp. "Additional charges are possible."
Pendarvis remains in jail. Her bond is set at $100,000.
