PASADENA, Calif. — For the second year in a row, Louisiana’s float in the Rose Parade has won the Showmanship Award.
On New Year's Day, Louisiana was well represented at the 135th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
This is the third year The Louisiana Office of Tourism's "Explore Louisiana" float rolled in the Rose Parade and the second straight year the float won the Showmanship Award.
The Showmanship Award is awarded to the float that best represents showmanship and entertainment.
"We're very excited to kick off the Louisiana Office of Tourism 2024 Year of Music campaign with this recognition," said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
This year's parade theme was "Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language."
The float rolled with lots of entertainers and performers including Grammy-nominated Zydeco musician Sean Ardoin, Cajun fiddler Amanda Shaw, and legendary guitarist James Burton.
This is the third consecutive year Louisiana has participated and won an award in the Rose Parade.
In 2022, that float received the Wrigley Legacy Award for outstanding display of floral presentation, float design, and entertainment.
