Police are searching for the man who would’ve robbed the Waffle House on Old Gentilly Road if not for the cashier who disarmed him.

According to NOPD, the man seen in the surveillance photos above walked into the Waffle House in the 4600 block of Old Gentilly Road around 5 a.m. on March 28 and handed the cashier a note demanding money. The man then pulled out a black revolved with brown handle plates.

Police say the cashier took the firearm from the man, who then ran out of the restaurant.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male in his late 40s, standing about 5’9-10” tall and walking with a possible limp. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jacket with a white undershirt, light colored pants and a blue New Orleans Pelicans cap. Witnesses also said he has a large scar or burn mark on the left side of his face.
