Video: Bicycle thief takes cremated remains carried in basket, NOPD identifies a suspect

The NOPD claims Ingham has warrants for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of stolen property.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department identified one of two suspects involved in a bike theft of a three-wheeled bicycle fitted with a rear basket that contained a package with the cremated remains of the owner's family member.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Dauphine Street in the Bywater neighborhood on July 18.

Police released an image of 33-year-old Andrew Michael Ingham, one of two men they feel is connected to the theft. A doorbell camera video shows a man believed to be Ingham and another suspect walking away with the bicycle and the cremated remains.

The NOPD claims Ingham has warrants for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of stolen property.

A neighbor of the victim also claims her bike was stolen by the same men.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Ingham or other information, including the identity of the second perpetrator is asked to contact Fifth District detectives at (504) 658-6050 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.
