Suspect arrested after attempted $2K robbery with note at bank

Man arrested after allegedly giving polite but incriminating note to a bank teller on South Claiborne Avenue.

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans man tried to rob a bank in perhaps the politest way possible -- handing the teller a note that read, "Can I borrow 2K, this is a robbery," police said.

The incident occurred Monday morning (Nov. 25) at a bank in the 2700 block of South Claiborne Avenue.

Police said 31-year-old Juan Simpson approached a teller, asked for a piece of paper and jotted down a note that read, "Can I borrow 2K, this is a robbery."

New Orleans police apprehended Simpson at the scene. He was transported to the FBI for further processing, authorities said.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
