THIBODAUX, La. — Two shootings happened just hours apart in Lafourche Parish on Thursday night, one of them leaving four people hurt in what the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said were separate events.
"The shootings occurred in Raceland and Thibodaux, with the Thibodaux incident resulting in four injuries," Sheriff Craig Webre said on Friday. "There is no evidence that the shooting incidents were related."
By the time Thibodaux Police found three people shot on Thursday night at 10 , ears had already been ringing from an earlier shooting in Raceland.
Officers soon found out that the shooting on the 1400 block of Orange Grove Square was worse than they had thought, with a fourth victim already checked into a hospital with gunshot wounds.
"Investigators learned a fight had occurred that resulted in shots being fired," Sheriff Webre said.
About an hour and a half earlier deputies responded to calls of gunfire on Market Street in Raceland, where they said they only found bullet holes, fired into cars and houses.
"At least three vehicles and one residence were struck by gunfire during the incident," Sheriff Webre said. "But there were no reported injuries."
No suspects were immediately identified by LPSO. Three of the four victims were taken to University Hospital in New Orleans, the other victim was getting treatment in a local hospital.
Parish officials asked anyone with information to call Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433. LPSO said that a reward up to $1,000 would be given to anyone with a tip that leads to an arrest.
