NEW ORLEANS — Five teenagers from Terrebonne Parish were arrested and booked after police said they targeted homeless victims to beat and rob early Sunday morning, according to a report on NOLA.com.

The NOPD said the attacks were reported around 2:30 a.m. in the 400 block of South Peters Street.

Police told NOLA.com that the group approached a homeless man and pistol-whipped him in the head. A second victim had his backpack and bicycle stolen and he was beaten with a gun. Police also said that he had his belongings thrown into the Mississippi River.

The second victim was taken to the hospital and his condition wasn’t immediately known.

Officers arrested Keith Morvant, Leland Fitch and Jaden LeBeouf, all 18, as well as two unnamed boys, ages 15 and 16. The youngest suspects were not identified by police because they are juveniles.

They were each booked with armed robbery and second-degree battery.

Morvant, Fitch and LeBeouf were also booked with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, the NOPD said. Bail for Morvant and Fitch was set at $135,000, Orleans Parish court records said. No bail information was available for LaBeouf.
