Teen shot on St. Roch Avenue, another teen in custody, NOPD reports

A police spokesperson on the scene says it happened around 5:00 a.m. on St. Roch Avenue and North Miro Street.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department says a 14-year-old boy was shot Monday morning in the 2200 block of St Roch Avenue.

A police spokesperson on the scene says it happened around 5:00 a.m. on St. Roch Avenue and North Miro Street. The teen was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

The NOPD released few details on the incident other than a teen was injured in the shooting and another was taken into custody for questioning. A stolen vehicle was also recovered from the scene.

This is the second shooting investigation on St. Roch Avenue in about a month.

Back in February 15-year-old Tyler Ellis, a freshman at Warren Easton High School, was accidentally shot in the 3000 block of the same street. He later died at the hospital. A 15-year-old was charged with negligent homicide for the fatal shooting.
