3 Ponchatoula teenagers arrested for animal cruelty after viral video, TPSO says

One of the boys was charged with one count of Animal Cruelty. The other two were charged with one count of Principal to Animal Cruelty.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — Three teenagers from Ponchatoula were arrested in connection to a viral video showing abuse of a dog, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

The three boys are 15 years old. Deputies said they were alerted of the video "circulating on social media showing a male abusing a dog on what appeared to be a hunting trip," the release said.

Deputies said a second boy was recording the incident while a third was present and neither of them tried to stop the abuse.

Detectives then discovered that the video was made in the Manchac area last year. Authorities obtained warrants for the teens' arrest and all three were found at their homes.

TPSO said the dog in the video was also found, assessed and at this time was "found to be in healthy condition and of a happy disposition."

One of the boys was charged with one count of Animal Cruelty. The other two were charged with one count of Principal to Animal Cruelty.
