NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating two suspects in a theft investigation.

It happened on July 18 in the 3700 block of Dauphine Street. Police say two suspects allegedly entered an apartment complex without permission and stole the victim’s bicycle, as well as a package containing the remains of a deceased person.

Our partners at The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reported that a woman told them that the remains were the ashes of a 23-year-old niece who died last year and a cargo tricycle float for Mardi Gras.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050. Those wishing to report information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
