NEW ORLEANS — The ASAP ankle monitoring program announced the arrest of Joseph McInnis on Tuesday.
McInnis is accused of killing Eddie Rodrigue on Dec. 14 of last year. According to police, Rodrique's body was found under a mattress on Burke Street in New Orleans on Jan. 1.
WWL Louisiana's investigative report "Tracking a Murder" by reporter Mike Perlstein said the first sign of trouble came in the form of electronic dots on a computer screen at Assured Supervision Accountability Program (ASAP) – a company that uses electronic monitoring to track criminal defendants free on bail.
Rodrigue was awaiting trial on a charge of distribution of marijuana.
Following the murder, McInnis is suspected of cutting Rodrigue's ankle monitoring device off and discarding it in a dumpster.
McInnis has been booked into the Orleans Parish Jail and charged with murder and tampering with an electronic monitoring device among other charges.
