Suspect arrested in Chalmette stabbing investigation, sheriff says

The St. Bernard Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Alvin Langsford III as suspect in a Chalmette stabbing investigation.

CHALMETTE, La. — Deputies from the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office arrested 37-year-old Alvin Langsford III as a suspect in connection with a stabbing that occurred in the 2900 block of Marietta Street on Saturday.

According to Sheriff James Pohlmann, deputies responded to the call shortly before 6 p.m. and once on the scene found a man on the ground with multiple lacerations following a disagreement with the suspect.

Langsford was located shortly after the incident and taken into custody. The resident in the 2700 block of Lyndell Drive was booked with aggravated second-degree battery.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Sheriff Pohlmann said both men were acquaintances, but that the stabbing was an isolated incident between the two men and no one else was injured.
