NOPD investigates a fatal stabbing in the Seabrook neighborhood

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from what police initially believed to be gunshot wounds but later found to be stab wounds.

NEW ORLEANS — A man was fatally stabbed in the Seabrook neighborhood of New Orleans East and the New Orleans Police Department is investigating.

Initial police reports say around 2:18 a.m. Wednesday Seventh District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 7000 block of Morrison Road.

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from what police initially believed to be gunshot wounds. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Later in the investigation, NOPD investigators determined the wounds were stab wounds and not from a shooting as initially reported by the department.

No further information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
