One in custody after St. Tammany Sheriff deploys SWAT team

The sheriff's office said the person was barricaded in a home. The incident happened at a house in the area of Beau Rivage.

MANDEVILLE, La. — One individual is in custody after the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said its SWAT team assisted the Mandeville Police Department on Thursday.

The sheriff's office said the person was barricaded in a home. The incident happened at a house in the area of Beau Rivage around 5 p.m.

Later at 8:15 p.m., the SWAT team had the individual in custody.

"Law enforcement will be clearing the scene as soon as they are able," authorities said in a release.

Police ask that the public avoid the area.
