79-year-old woman sent to hospital after she crashed her car into a nail shop, sheriff says

Deputies said the crash happened in a parking lot at 1819 W. Airline Highway around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

LAPLACE, La. — A 79-year-old woman was injured after she crashed into a nail shop in LaPlace, according to St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the crash happened in a parking lot at 1819 W. Airline Highway around 9 a.m. Wednesday. They said the woman " mistakenly hit the accelerator and drove into the building," in a release. 

She was then taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries.

"The woman’s 2006 white Chrysler Sebring damaged the building that’s occupied by Studio Nails," deputies said.

No other injuries were reported and the shop is closed at this time.
