SLIDELL, La. — A 15-year-old boy is dead after drowning in Palm Lake Saturday afternoon, according to the Slidell Police Department.
Officers said the incident happened around 4:40 p.m. when the teen " jumped into the lake to retrieve an item, but never resurfaced."
On Monday, the victim was identified as Jeron Magee.
Emergency responders rushed to rescue the teen and was able to find the boy in the lake. Police said he was dead on the scene.
“This is a very sad situation and every parent’s worst nightmare. Our condolences are with the teen’s family during these tough times,” says Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal.
