Slidell pastor found guilty of cruelty to kids

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

COVINGTON, La. — A St. Tammany Parish court presided over by Judge A. Keller found pastor and Lakeside Christian School headmaster John Raymond guilty of cruelty to juveniles in the 22nd Judicial District Court in Covington, La., on Monday.

In addition to allegedly taping students’ mouths shut, he was charged with holding a 4-year-old boy upside down in 2017 and covering his mouth and nose until he passed out

The court ruling stated Raymond was found guilty of three counts of Cruelty to Juveniles and one count of Second-Degree Cruelty to Juveniles.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

Bond has been set for $100,000.
