A traffic stop led to the arrest of 57-year-old Slidell resident Renell Williams who was allegedly making crack cocaine at one of his two residences.

SLIDELL, La. — The St Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a 57-year-old Slidell resident Renell Williams after detectives discovered he was allegedly operating a drug distribution network.

The STPSO's Narcotics Division and Proactive Enforcement Unit made the arrest on Friday following a traffic stop at the intersection of Northshore Boulevard and Gause Boulevard West.

The stop led to a vehicle search where cocaine was found.

Search warrants were then executed at two of Williams' residences, the first an apartment on Meadows Boulevard, and the second at a home in the 54000 block of Patrick Street.

Detectives claim nearly 50 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and $2,620 in cash were seized during the search of the Meadows apartment. A second search at the Patrick St. residence led to the "discovery and seizure of several items related to the clandestine manufacturing (cooking) of crack cocaine."

The STPSO says Williams had approximately 500 individual doses of crack or nearly 500 “crack rocks."

Williams was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS (cocaine) (2 Counts)
  • Creation or Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory for the Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
  • Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Proper Equipment/Display of Plate Required on Vehicles
