SLIDELL, La. — Update: On Friday, less than 24 hours after the incident, the Slidell Police Department announced the bank robbery suspect was in custody.
The Slidell Police Department responded to an armed bank robbery on Thursday morning.
According to police, the robbery occurred at BankPlus on 1936 Gause Boulevard East. Officers said the suspect entered the bank, wielded a pistol and demanded money.
After getting the cash, the man fled the area.
Police said they are searching for a Black male, who is about 5’11” to 6’1” in height. He was wearing a black hat, gloves, dark colored dress pants, and a white collared shirt with a blue tie.
No injuries have been reported.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
Slidell detectives and the F.B.I are leading the case.
