SHREVEPORT, La. — Former news director and anchor of KTBS, Bill Lunn, is being investigated by the Shreveport Police Department for trying to solicit a minor for sexual purposes over the internet, according to the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate.

The investigation began after Lunn reportedly chatted with an online profile that seemed to belong to an underage girl. However, the profile was set up by a group of young men looking to catch "would-be child predators," our partners reported.

Shreveport police said the incident happened on May 29 around 11 a.m. when Lunn reportedly went to a home in the area, but met the young men behind the fake online profile instead.

According to the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate, Lunn then called police and said he was assaulted.

Officers who were at the scene then filed a report.

"The basis of the investigation centers around computer-aided solicitation of a minor however no arrest(s) have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing," the department said.

SPD said they did not know about the young men's efforts and did not find any evidence that they assaulted Lunn or broke the law, our partners reported.

Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate got a statement from Lunn's attorney. Read the full statement below:

“It is our preliminary understanding that this incident was not the result of a law enforcement investigation, but rather one done by private individuals. Our primary concern at this time is that law enforcement receives all evidence surrounding this incident so that they can make a thorough and complete review. Mr. Lunn has cooperated with authorities and vehemently denies any allegations of wrongdoing. It is our hope that after a thorough review of all the evidence surrounding this matter, that Mr. Lunn will be shown to be innocent and cleared of these allegations.”
