Shoplifters lead Kenner police on a chase into New Orleans, officer crashes into canal

The officer was not hurt but police say the suspects got away. Police are still searching for those suspects.

KENNER, La. — Kenner police say two women suspected of shoplifting led officers on a chase into New Orleans where a pursuing officer crashed into a canal.

According to a Kenner Police report, it started at about 10:45 Tuesday night in the 800 block of West Esplanade Avenue.

They say the two female shoplifting suspects fled the business in a gold color, four-door Honda SUV.

A Kenner PD officer spotted the vehicle entering Interstate 10 heading eastbound and pursued the suspects into New Orleans. The chase ended when the officer lost control of his car and crashed into the canal at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Moss Street in New Orleans.

The officer was not hurt, but police say the suspects got away. 

Police are still searching for those suspects.
