NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed three people and wounded at least two others Tuesday night in Mid City.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Ulloa Street. According to NOPD, First District officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area.
When officers arrived, three people were found suffering from gunshot wounds with numerous bullet casings in the area.
The coroner later identified those three people as 34-year-old Darome Hilton, 20-year-old Glenquel Emerson and 22-year-old Bobbie Basquine. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two were taken to the hospital for treatment, where they died.
During the investigation, police discovered there were two other shooting victims who were taken to the hospital by private conveyance.
The investigation is ongoing. The identities of the deceased and official causes of death will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office after autopsies are complete and the families have been notified.
