Shooting at a Houma bar leaves three people wounded, police say

Investigators say the shooting happened Sunday at Thirsty’s Bar in the 1300 block of Barataria in Houma.

HOUMA, La. — An altercation at a popular bar in Houma led to a shooting and three people sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds, the Houma Police Department reports.

Investigators say the shooting happened Sunday at Thirsty’s Bar in the 1300 block of Barataria in Houma.

Police say several people were involved in an altercation at the bar that spilled out into the parking lot. They say some suspects retrieved guns from their car and began shooting injuring three people.

As officers investigated the shooting, they learned that a 49-year-old male victim was struck in the leg while outside of the Courtyard Marriott by a stray bullet.

Later, police were informed by medical staff at the hospital that a second 26-year-old male victim had also arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. A third gunshot victim, a 24-year-old man also arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

All victims are recovering from their injuries as none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Police say they identified Dontrelle Allen, 27, as a suspect in the shooting and arrested him with three counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder among other charges.
