MARRERO, La. — One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a homicide Tuesday in Marrero, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the 6300 block of Silver Lilly Lane off Fourth Street around 11:54 p.m. after they were alerted of gunshots in the area.
When deputies arrived, they found a man lying dead in the street.
Sheriff Lopinto said five minutes later "a victim, suspect or involved individual" showed up at West Jefferson Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Initially JPSO reported that the victim will be transferred to UMC with non-fatal injuries. Around 2:02 p.m. deputies said the victim's "injuries are considered life-threatening."
Deputies said the two incidents are related in their initial investigation.

The Sheriff's Office did not give any further details and the investigation is ongoing.
