Search underway for suspect in shooting of John Ehret High School graduate

The sheriff says Chad Jackson graduated earlier this month from John Ehret High School and is a standout football player with college scholarship offers.

RESERVE, La. — St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office is searching for suspects and a motive in a shooting that happened Saturday morning near Northwest Third Street in Reserve Louisiana.

The sheriff says Chad Jackson graduated earlier this month from John Ehret High School and is a standout football player with college scholarship offers. Authorities say 18-year-old Jackson was shot while inside a car.  The driver also had a graze wound but was able to drive Jackson to his mother's home where deputies responded.

According to the sheriff, he was then taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Detectives are now urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

"Right now, what I'm asking for is the public's assistance, that area is you have to know where you're going to be in this area. We've, my investigators, are confident that whoever did this crime is not only familiar with the area but probably has ties to the area, or maybe even lives in that immediate area,” said St. John Parish Sheriff Michael Tregre.

The sheriff is asking for prayers for the teenager that he pulls through.  WWL Louisiana spoke to Jackson's mother but says she is asking for privacy at this time.
