NEW ORLEANS — The four teens facing second-degree murder charges in the carjacking death of Linda Frickey are now 30 days away from the start of their trial.
Today's pretrial hearing got off to a slow start as judge Kimya Holmes had a packed docket. As things began, the attorney for John Honore, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, started by requesting several different motions. Among those was an investigation into some information that had been leaked regarding Honore‘s juvenile criminal record.
The attorney claimed that per the Louisiana Children’s Code, the District Attorney's office should be held in contempt of court for a breach of information. The DA's office said it will conduct an investigation into this and will reveal their findings if any, next week.
Honore's attorney also claimed that attorneys for the other defendants Mar'Quel Curtis and Lenyra Theophile, had plans to try and pin the entire incident solely on Honore. The attorney for Briniyah Baker declined to disclose his strategy for this case.
The hearing also finalized the jury questionnaire.
