NEW ORLEANS — Police say they found a man shot dead in the street in the St. Claude neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
According to initial NOPD reports, officers were called to the 1700 block of Desire Street around 12:40 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound who was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical responders.
NOPD officials said they have identified the man but are withholding his name until the family has been notified.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, officials said. Neither a motive nor a suspect have been named in the death so far.
Police initially classified the incident as a death by shooting.
