Motorist victim of hit-and-run while inspecting vehicle, suspect arrested – Kenner Police say

Police said the driver, who allegedly had no license or insurance, has been arrested and booked.

KENNER, La. — UPDATE: After initial reports claiming the victim was a pedestrian on the I-10 flyover, Kenner Police have confirmed the incident occurred in the 500 block of Interstate 10 and Loyola Drive and involved a female victim that was struck while inspecting her vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway.

The Kenner Police Department is currently working on a hit-and-run investigation that began after a female victim was struck by a vehicle on the 500 block of Interstate 10 and Loyola Drive and involved a female victim that was struck while inspecting her vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway around 9:45 Wednesday night.

According to police, the victim was struck by a passing vehicle and suffered a significant head injury during the impact. Other occupants in the victim's vehicle told police the car that hit the victim was a white sedan exiting the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

Despite fleeing the scene, Kenner Police were able to arrest 20-year-old New Orleans native Jay Gordon during a traffic stop.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

Police said Gordon was booked with hit-and-run, no driver's license, no insurance and two warrants from surrounding law enforcement agencies.
