NEW ORLEANS — A bond hearing on Wednesday for the father of a 3-year-old in Algiers who was found shot dead revealed that the girl was shot twice, one time in the head and once in the abdomen.
Our partners at The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reported that during the hearing, Virgil Ordon's defense said that he was asleep when his daughter, Promyse Ordon, was fatally shot in the 3200 block of Rue Parc Fontaine.
Prosecutors argued that Ordon shot and killed his daughter, Promyse. Police found gunshot residue on Ordon's hands, as well as on another child and an unnamed witness.
A judge declined to upgrade Ordon's charges to first-degree murder.
Ordon was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of negligent homicide and for being a convicted felon in illegal possession of a firearm on Tuesday. His bond was set at $150,000.
