NEW ORLEANS – Two inmates at the Orleans Justice Center are facing new charges Sunday after deputies said the men beat up another inmate at the jail.
Deputies said the fight happened July 10.
According to investigators, Astin Randall, 18, was the first to approach the victim, who moved away refusing to fight. Investigators said Randall continued, and was joined by Roshade Williams, 18.
OPSO authorities said the fight was caught on surveillance video. The victim was first seen by OPSO medical personnel, then brought to UMC where he was treated for injuries and released back to OPSO custody, said officials.
Both Randall and Williams now face second-degree battery charges.
Randall was originally booked on charges of illegal use of a weapon and several municipal attachments.
Williams was originally booked with theft of a motor vehicle, simple criminal damage to property, flight from an officer and probation violation.
