One killed, one injured in St. James Parish shooting

ST. JAMES PARISH, La. — One man was killed, and another was injured Tuesday night in a shooting, according to the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were first called to the 2100 block of Highway 44 around 8:40 p.m. to report of man shot. The sheriff's office says ten minutes later, they received another report of a second man shot in the same area.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where one of them later died. 

"A suspect vehicle was located in an eastbound lane on the Westbank side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge with damage from gunfire," the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office said. 

Investigators were told that four males got out of the vehicle and left the scene.
