MADISONVILLE, La. — A 14-year-old boy was arrested and faces charges after students reported he had a 'kill list' and said he planned to bring a knife to school, STPSO said Friday.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office released the teen after he agreed to appear in court on a summons for the criminal charge of "Menacing."

The teen was a student at a junior high school in Madisonville, where other students told a teacher about those alleged threats.

"The other students did the right thing and informed a teacher," STPSO said on Friday. "The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's SRO working at the school was then contacted."

In their Friday statement, deputies did not mention that the student had any weapons on him. The 14-year-old apparently told students he would bring a knife to school on Monday.
