NOPD SWAT roll ends peacefully, 18-year-old arrested

A spokesperson with NOPD says their violent crimes task force issued an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old they believe was tied to an armed robbery.

NEW ORLEANS — Central City standoff ends peacefully after a suspect barricaded himself inside a home for nearly 4 hours.

A spokesperson with NOPD says their violent crimes task force issued an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old they believe was tied to an armed robbery.

Once they tried to arrest him, he ran inside a home here in the 2300 block of Thalia Street and refused to come out. Negotiations stretched on for about four hours, and the teen surrendered without incident.

He was taken into custody, and he's currently being evaluated at the hospital. Once he's released, he will be formally charged with armed robbery. Other charges related to the incident are currently pending.

NOPD says more information will be released once the teen is officially processed and released from the hospital.
