NOPD: Second line shootings not related

So far, NOPD says they have conducted eight search warrants and recovered four guns.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department gave another update Tuesday morning on the St. Roch second line shootings that killed two people and injured 11 others.

During a press conference, police confirmed that the two shootings were not related. They happened within 45 minutes of each other and less than a mile apart on Almonaster Avenue.

So far, NOPD says they have conducted eight search warrants and recovered four guns.

One person of interest was arrested on unrelated charges.

"I will say to you that our ability in this police department to find the perpetrators and actually bring them to justice is at a national high. And so the likelihood of you being caught is very, very great. We still have leads that we are not sharing with you, and so I. We know that we are close to making arrests in this situation," NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.

Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 cash reward on each incident for any information that leads to an arrest.

"So, I just want to be very clear. The other thing that we're asking you to do is, besides sending just photos of possible people in the crowds, if you have information on who may be passed a gun, if a gun was dropped somewhere if a gun was hidden somewhere, or if you know that somebody took a gun from a possible shooter, that weapon is incredibly important to the evidence chain. Give us that information that does earn you a cash award," Darlene Cusanza, Executive Director of Greater New Orleans Crimestoppers, said.

The investigation is still ongoing.
