NOPD makes arrest in search for suspects near parish line

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is actively searching for suspects Tuesday afternoon after a Second District detective said he witnessed a violent crime at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Magnolia Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:49 p.m. Shortly after, the police said the suspects fled the scene in a black SUV with no visible license plates.

Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Monticello Street, where one of the suspects is said to have exited the vehicle and fled on foot while the driver of the suspects' vehicle sped off.

Dozens of law enforcement personnel established a perimeter in the area of South Claiborne Avenue, Monticello Street, Nelson Street and Mistletoe Street as officers searched for the suspects near the Orleans-Jefferson parish line.

An arrest was made. No details as to suspect's identity have been released.

Louisiana State Police is working with the NOPD in this investigation.
