NEW ORLEANS — A man was shot Saturday night after he used Apple AirPods to track down his stolen car, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police say they were called to the hospital after a victim showed up with a gunshot wound to his body around 10 p.m.
The victim told police that he reported his vehicle stolen from the 4300 block of Maple Leaf Drive earlier that day.
Later that evening, the victim said his Apple AirPods in the stolen vehicle led him to the vehicle spotted in the 3500 block of Prytania.
Police say he had confronted a group of men standing around his stolen vehicle. One of the suspects fired one shot, and it grazed the victim's right shoulder.
Police did not say if the stolen vehicle was recovered.
“For the safety of all our residents and visitors, the New Orleans Police Department does not encourage anyone to take matters into their own hands. The NOPD urges citizens to contact police by dialing 911 for emergency police assistance,” the NOPD said in a release to WWL Louisiana.
