NOPD: Man calling himself 'Larry Bird' tricks sellers, then carjacks them by force

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department released the image of a man they believe is a suspect in two carjackings in New Orleans East on Oct. 3 and Oct. 7.

According to police, the man identified in the image allegedly referred to himself as "Larry Bird" and pretended to be interested in buying the victims' vehicles before taking the vehicles by force.

Both incidents occurred in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes or the identity of the suspect is asked to call Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
