NEW ORLEANS – Police say a man responsible for a shooting on Chartres Street last month has been arrested.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, 27-year-old James Charles Morman was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated second-degree battery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Around 6:51 a.m. on Oct. 26, detectives responded to a shooting near Chartres and Governor Nicholls streets. Police interviewed three victims who said they met Morman and another man on Bourbon Street before walking to Chartres Street. At some point, a struggle over a wallet happened and Morman allegedly pulled a gun and fired a single shot that struck one person.

While searching the shooting scene, investigators found illegal drugs which are believed to be involved in the struggle.
