NEW ORLEANS — More arrests have been made in the mass shooting that occurred during the Nine Times Social Aid and Pleasure Club Second line on Nov. 17. Police arrested alleged gunman 32-year-old Alex Harris, the New Orleans Police Department said on Wednesday.
The shooting injured nine innocent bystanders and one suspect.
NOPD said Harris was arrested on Friday, Dec. 13. They said Harris was on parole at the time of the incident. He was taken into custody with the assistance of the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole at their offices.
Detectives determined Harris was " involved in an argument with another individual and the two allegedly opened fire on each other in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue during a parade," a release said.
Harris faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm at a parade. Additional charges are pending.
NOPD also said they arrested 26-year-old Tavi Roach, who was taken into custody immediately after the shooting. He was found after officers traced him to a stolen vehicle seen fleeing the scene by the department's Violent Crime Abatement Investigative Team (VCAIT) and Louisiana State Police.
Roach is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen auto.
NOPD has already arrested 19-year-old Curtis Gray, who is facing two counts of second-degree murder. Gray's mother, Ashley Gray, 40, was also arrested after allegedly trying to help her son with a false alibi.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional arrests and charges are expected.
