NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in Algiers that left a toddler dead.
Police say the shooting happened in the 3100 block of Rue Park Fontaine around 3 p.m. Monday.
The child was 3 years old, according to a report released by the NOPD.
Investigators say officers worked to keep the child alive, but she died at the scene.
Shortly after 7 p.m., NOPD said a person has been detained for questioning, but that no arrests have been made at that time.
