Security guard shoots person in front of Adler’s on Canal Street

Police say the shooting happened in the 700 block of Canal Street around 7 a.m.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Canal Street Friday morning.

Police say at least one adult was shot in front of Adler’s around 7 a.m. after some kind of fight with a security guard.

NOPD did not say which business the security guard was working for. The security guard was not taken into custody and the victim was taken to the hospital by EMS.

NOPD Director of Communications Reese Harper said the victim is listed in critical condition.

No other information is available at this time.
