One dead, 2 injured in 7th Ward shooting, NOPD reports

Officers said a 32-year-old man is dead, an 11-year-old boy and a 64-year-old man were wounded, the release said.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Police are investigating a homicide that happened at about 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Joseph Guillaume Place in the 7th Ward.

Officers said a 32-year-old man is dead, an 11-year-old boy and a 64-year-old man were wounded, the release said.

NOPD said they arrived on the scene to find the three victims suffering " from apparent gunshot wounds to their bodies."

Officers said the 32-year-old man was dead on the scene. The 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. The 64-year-old man was also taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

An initial report from NOPD said one victim was transported to the hospital and two other victims were reported dead on the scene.

NOPD said they are investigating if the deceased man was the intended target.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

No further information is currently available as the investigation is ongoing.
