NOPD investigates a homicide on St. Roch Avenue

Responding NOPD officers located the victim lying on the neutral ground and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

NEW ORLEANS — The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours on Saturday in the 3100 block of Saint Roch Avenue.

"At about 12:46 a.m., NOPD Third District officers were dispatched in response to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the neutral ground and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased," said the NOPD.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident as well as a motive. No additional information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to officially identify the victim.
