NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department says an arrest has been made in the homicide investigation of Revell Andrews that happened in the Marigny.
Police say a 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder after the boy’s mother turned him in to authorities.
The young teen was arrested for the fatal shooting that happened Monday, June 26, in the 2500 block of St. Claude Avenue.
The NOPD says the arrest is linked to the Monday fatal shooting of Revell Andrews, 18, a locally loved tuba player and cousin of musician Troy Andrews who is better known as "Trombone Shorty".
We spoke with his family who say they don't know why his life was cut short.
"One day he just go out and they take his life," his mother, Deanna Andrews said.
"Hurts because my son don't deserve what he got, he wasn't that type of person for nobody to walk up and kill like that," she said.
The family says Andrew was a straight-A student who just graduated from McDonogh 35 Senior High School and two weeks ago had gotten his driver's license. He was set to start at Southern University in the fall.
